At the request of the Clay County Office of Emergency Services and the Big Otter Volunteer Fire Department Pinch VFD and Belle VFD used their truck companies to present a ladder cross in honor of fallen WV State Trooper Eric M. Workman. A ladder cross, usually seen with an American Flag hanging between the raised ladders, is one of the fire service's ultimate displays of respect for fallen public servants. The ladder cross was presented in front of the Big Otter Fire Station, where Trooper Workman's father is a member. Tower Ladder 2 and Truck 55 also stopped to visit the Memorial Site, which has been constructed beneath Interstate 79 at Walback. Additionally, Pinch VFD and Frame VFD apparatus and members lined the Frame Road overpass of Interstate 79 at Elkview. The Pinch Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank all uniformed services that showed their respect to our fallen law enforcement brother.
