Day Time crash closes I-79 for several hours

On 8/9 at 13:39, Pinch Fire was dispatched to a reported auto accident with injuries at the 3 mile marker of I-79 North. Prior to units arriving, METRO 911 advised single vehicle under a tractor trailer with heavy damage and entrapment reported. First units on scene reported passenger car under the trailer with confirmed entrapment and injuries.

Crews immediately went to work shutting the down the roadway, stabilizing the vehicle, and beginning the extrication process. It took crews approximately 20 minutes to extricate all patients and packaging them for transport. A total of 3 patients were transported to the local trauma center with no word on their current conditions.

Roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the roadway was cleared of all obstacles and vehicles removed.
